It's important that we democratize such transformative technology so the benefits can be as widespread as possible. Though it seems crazy given that over half the world today owns a smartphone, personal computers weren't really popular before the creation of the web browser in the 90s.
In other words, computers were just fancy lightbulbs and accounting machinery for decades until they were made simple, useful, and economical enough for people who weren't super tech savvy. By making A.I. so approachable that children can use it, our aim is to make its benefits accessible to everyone.

Searching the internet is a more nuanced skill than it may seem; while a child might have difficulty sifting through search results, chances are the Ad Lib's model has already read the most popular results, synthesized them, and can explain them in plain English (or any of 50+ languages) in a matter of seconds.

The Crowdfunding Journey
Currently, the Ad Lib's prototyping stage is mostly complete, including iOS and Android companion apps, a 3d printed plastic enclosure and working wireless hardware updates.
In order to scale up production, the plastic enclosure must be manufactured by mold injection rather than 3D printing. By joining forces in the form of crowdfunding, backers get the security knowing that their investment will be put towards the democratization of powerful technology, while the Ad Lib team gets security knowing whether scaling up production is economical.
